A child-carrying supporter who was involved
in a confrontation with a Lyon player during Thursday’s Europa League
defeat at Goodison Park, has been banned for life by Everton. The
English club revealed they had identified the fan following an internal
investigation into the disturbances and registered a formal complaint
against the individual with Merseyside Police. The chaos was caused
after a barge by Everton’s Ashley Williams on Lyon goalkeeper Anthony
Lopes which sparked a fracas behind the goal in which the Everton
supporter – carrying a small child – appeared to push a Lyon player.
Uefa is awaiting reports from match officials before deciding on action
The football fan was identified by the club today and the individual
will be ‘indefinitely’ banned from attending future Everton matches.
